Feeding Our Futures and Halting Hunger in the Halls With West Ohio Food Bank’s School Pantry Food Program
The School-Based Food Pantry is a program designed to alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children, their families and the immediate school community. School-based markets are located at, or adjacent to school properties and are intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income students and their families.
These markets have proven to provide greater assistance than the BackPack program, at an equal or lower cost.
School-based markets serve entire families and increase the amount of fresh food entering homes. Families may receive various shelf stable items such as beans, peanut butter, and pasta, in addition to produce. These items can be used to create a complete meal.
